The proposed increase by New Braunfels Utilities would more than double the current impact fee to $25,692 per unit. That would result in some of the highest impact fees in the region and could throw cold water on development in New Braunfels in general; the city for the past decade has ranked as one of the fastest growing areas in the country. By contrast, San Antonio’s maximum impact fee is $8,548 per housing unit, and Austin’s is $7,200.
